Official: tarik joins NRG, replacing FugLy
Having been rumoured to join the team on Sunday, Tarik "tarik" Celik has been announced by NRG as a new member of the team, with the move teased by the rifler earlier in the day.
In a video presented by former World Series champion and NRG investor Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez, the organization welcomed tarik with a montage of some of his well known moments, including the Cloud9 Major win from January last year.
tarik's been sat on MIBR's bench since January 12th, when he was replaced on the team by João "felps" Vasconcellos as they reverted to a full-Brazilian squad. During his time with MIBR, the team only achieved one win, at ZOTAC Cup Masters, and two second place finishes. tarik's move to NRG sees him reunite with coach Chet "ImAPet" Singh and in-game leader Damian "daps" Steele, with the three having been teammates on OpTic.
NRG made changes after a disastrous IEM Katowice Major campaign, where after a flawless New Challengers stage, they fell 0-3 in the New Legends stage and will be forced to qualify for the August StarLadder Berlin Major from the Minor stage once again. This is the second change NRG have made, after analyst Jan "Swani" Müller left after just over a month in the role.
ImAPet also confirmed just after the initial announcement that tarik will be replacing Jacob "FugLy" Medina on the team, who has been with NRG for nearly three years having joined in May 2016.
This means NRG's roster is as follows:
- Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
- Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov
- Damian "daps" Steele
- Ethan "Ethan" Arnold
- Tarik "tarik" Celik
- Chet "ImAPet" Singh (Coach)
- Jacob "FugLy" Medina (Inactive)
NRG are set to be in action at the upcoming StarSeries i-League Season 7 Finals starting on March 30th.
