Grizzlys win second WESG Canada qualifier; playoff teams set
The second WESG Canadian online qualifier has concluded, with Grizzlys coming out on top. They will join Ghost as the second team confirmed for the WESG Canada regional playoffs at EGLX next month.
Grizzlys went undefeated the entire bracket, cruising their way through the upper bracket and only having a close call against up north, who took Grizzlys into overtime before ultimately falling to them 19-16.
Poutine Warriors, the other grand finalist, reached the round-of-four in the upper bracket before being knocked down by up north. Powering their way through Farmers Reborn and LiviD in the lower bracket, they rematched with up north in the lower bracket finals. The two teams were evenly matched, with the series going 2-1 to Poutine Warriors after the team edged out a 16-14 win on the third map, Mirage.
Grizzlys and Poutine Warriors eventually met in the grand finals. Cedric "M3lio" Perrault led his team to a strong 16-8 victory on Inferno, kicking off the series 1-0 in Grizzlys' favor. Despite a miracle performance from Alex "vek" Voynov on Overpass, Poutine Warriors were unable to close the map, with Grizzlys taking the second map 16-12 and the series 2-0.
