WESG allow qz to play with TYLOO; open door for steel and swag to compete
With TYLOO announcing that VAC-banned player Quanqing "qz" Wu will be able to stand-in for their team at the upcoming WESG finals in China, thoughts would now lie on whether or not Valve-banned players Joshua "steel" Nissan and Braxton "swag" Pierce would be able to, assuming they qualify, compete in the finals.
qz is notable as he was a previous member of TYLOO, only being removed after the team was disqualified from the MLG Columbus 2016 Asia Minor due to his VAC ban. Until now, WESG had prevented players who have bans from Valve-sponsored events from taking part, but with qz being allowed to stand-in it seems that their policy on this has been relaxed.
It's been known for a while that the organizers of the USA and Canada qualifers, WorldGaming, have permitted Swole Patrol and Ghost to compete with swag and steel, respectively, in their tournaments. The only unknown factor was whether or not they would be allowed to take part in China, assuming they qualified. With qz being allowed to compete, it'd appear this decision runs through the entire circuit.
The first USA open qualifier, and second Canada open qualifier, are set to take place this weekend, Saturday 22nd. Full details can be found on the Calendar. Ghost have already qualified to the Canadian finals through the first qualifier, and Swole Patrol will get their first shot at heading to the USA finals this weekend.
