Liquid dismantle Winstrike, compLexity send Fnatic to new dephh-s in London
The first two North American teams have played in London, and it has been wins for both as Liquid ripped into Winstrike, and compLexity secured a massive upset against Fnatic.
Liquid took part as the second game of the day here in London, slightly delayed due to the double overtime caused by G2's win over HellRaisers. The two teams faced off on Mirage, where Liquid overturned Winstrike's pistol round win to launch a mammoth half where they went 12-3 ahead, with Russell "Twistzz" van Dulken leading the lines with a 1.79 rated performance. They continued this form into the second half, albeit suffering a small bit of resistance from the Russian team to eventually secure the 16-7 win.
Now we head to the massive upset. There's not much to write here apart from "compLexity bodied Fnatic" and that pun in the headline. Fnatic opened the map up with the pistol round, but compLexity came back firing. First by securing a forcebuy win and then by pushing on to take the lead, a 12-3 lead. The second half was equally strong, as In-Game-Leader Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz was the out-and-out best performer on the server with a 1.92 rating, as his team claimed a 16-4 win over the legendary Swedish side.
These results send both Liquid and compLexity to the 1-0 bracket of tomorrow's Swiss round, as well as see them confirmed as entrants to the next Major, IEM Katowice 2018.
The next North American-based teams on show will be MIBR, who are currently taking on TYLOO as of publication, and Cloud9 who'll face Vega Squadron in the last game of the day, at around 3:30 PM EDT.
