MIBR breeze past Kinguin, win ZOTAC Cup Masters
After sweeping through MVP PK yesterday, MIBR have been on a roll in Hong Kong with only Kinguin standing between them and the $200,000 grand prize.
And Kinguin didn't seem to stand for long, as MIBR crushed the Polish squad on Dust2, easily taking the first 13 rounds with Kinguin only managing to plant the bomb in one of those rounds. While Kinguin did manage to pull out two rounds of their own near the end of the first half, MIBR's 13-2 lead didn't bode well for the Polish team. Kinguin initially gained some hope in the second half, winning the first four rounds before their comeback was swiftly shut down by MIBR, who closed out the map 16-6.
On Cache, Kinguin were able to gain more room to breathe, allowing Mikołaj "mouz" Karolewski to lead his team through a competitive first half. While MIBR still led at the end of the first half 9-6, Kinguin had closed the gap significantly. While Kinguin were able to later tie up the game 9-9 at the start of the second half, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's strong AWPing allowed MIBR to just barely able to edge out the Poles, taking the second map 16-14.
While Kinguin had previously been able to take a few rounds off the Brazillian powerhouse in the earlier maps, Train was no contest. MIBR dominanted Kinguin, as Jake "Stewie2K" Yip paved the way for his team to go 16-1, with Kinguin only scrapping together one round in the first half.
With the third map wrapped up, MIBR took the series 3-0 without losing a single map the entire event.
