MIBR advance to ZOTAC Cup Masters Finals
With another 2-0 (16-9 Inferno, 16-10 Dust 2), MIBR laid waste to MVP PK in the semi-finals in the ZOTAC Cup Masters. MVP PK walked away with $20k leaving MIBR against Kinguin for a shot at $200,000.
Map one saw MVP PK picking Inferno, much like their first series against Virtus.Pro, however it didn't quite go the same way as before. The game was 8-7 at the half, but with a commanding T side, MIBR walked away with a 16-9 win. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Tarik "tarik" Celik looked to be in their old form as they led the way for MIBR.
Changing up their strategy from the Chinese to the Koreans, MIBR decided for a Dust 2 map pick rather than Cache. The variance in map seemed to be just what the American-Brazilian team needed taking a 12-3 lead at the half, but with a pistol round win MVP PK started to mount a comeback. On the back of Hyun-Pyo "XigN" Lee and Seon-Ho "minixeta" Son's 22 frags, the Koreans attempted to stay alive but were shut down when Marcelo "cold" David ended the game with a triple kill.
With the quarter-finals featuring most of the upsets, the semi-finals went to the favorites and MIBR will now be playing against Kinguin in the Finals. The Grand Finals will feature a Best of 5 series and will begin on August 26th at 4:30 AM EDT.
