SK wades through Liquid to playoffs, Renegades & NRG stay alive at StarSeries
The third day of StarSeries i-League Season 5 has come to a close with SK inching past Liquid 2-1, becoming the second team to qualify for playoffs after AGO surprised mousesports earlier in the day with a 2-1 victory of their own.
Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken put up an impressive performance for Liquid, but Marcelo "coldzera" David and Jake "Stewie2k" Yip ensured an SK victory by showing up in full force on Inferno. Liquid are left with two more chances to make their way to playoffs, with their next matchup putting them up against Kazakhstani side of AVANGAR.
Damian "daps" Steele took the reigns for NRG to lead them, both in-game and in frags, to a 2-0 win over VG.Flash. Close victories on Mirage and Overpass saw the North American team put up a decent performance, although a far better overall showing will be needed as their next elimination game will have them facing HellRaisers.
Renegades also managed to stay alive in their fight against Gambit, knocking the CIS squad out of the tournament following a quintuple overtime first map and a full thirty round bout on the third map. They're set to face Virtus.pro in their 1-2 matchup tomorrow as both teams fight for their tournament lives.
