ESL Pro League S6 North America Week 2 Recap
The second week of the season was shorter than the first, with SK and Liquid not having any matches scheduled. There were still some big clashes, upsets and the first games of some now completely filled rosters. We'll sort it by the groups of teams in their positions at the end of Week One.
OpTic, Misfits, CLG, NRG
With OpTic finally linking up with Kevin "HS" Tarn, they've got some time to nail down their results. Kicking off the week with a game against Splyce, teething problems came open with two close map against the Americans, eventually overcoming both with a 2-0. With the other two top sides in this grouping, OpTic split the maps. NRG saw their trade feature two fairly one-sided affairs for the both of them.
Misfit's matchup meanwhile was much closer, as the American side starts showing more promise in the EPL, with a 1-1 draw with OpTic. CLG had just the one match this week, facing up against Renegades where the two sides also split two incredibly close matches, seeing one map head to overtime before the second taken to 30 rounds. These results saw OpTic to the top of the table, with Misfits and NRG slotting in third and fourth just behind SK.
Immortals, compLexity, Renegades, Splyce
Immortals were having issues this week. Firstly, they needed zakk to stand-in for kNgV- for all their games, and then they were forced to forfeit their first map against Luminosity due to travel issues relating to DreamHack Montreal. Having to use a coach wasn't too much of a problem against C9, where they traded two equally one sided maps. But unfortunately against Luminosity, they fell to a 2-0 defeat after losing the second map that was played.
compLexity only managed one game this week, up against Renegades where they lost 2-0 after two equal maps. Renegades played another match after this, seeing them play two extremely close matches against CLG. Splyce also played against OpTic, where they lost 2-0 after two close maps.
Cloud9, Ghost Gaming, Luminosity, Rogue
Down the bottom of the pile, Cloud9's only game this week came up through the draw against Immortals. Ghost also played twice, against LG where strong performances from the Brazilians saw them win 2-0. The second game was against NRG, where they were once again completely outplayed in another 2-0 loss to send them to the bottom of the table. With Rogue the last team yet to be mentioned, they featured in just the one game against Misfits losing 2-0. They'll be hoping that stronger performances come when they finally complete their roster.
Be sure to tune into EPL next week to catch some exciting matchups, where hopefully Rogue will finalise their roster before the rest of the season kicks off and the middle of the pack teams are set to play off against each other. You can find more info about the upcoming matches here on dust2.us.
