RES survive ARES fe scare in Katowice
RES, the former Dynasty side, found themselves in the distinctly unfamiliar position of being in a lower bracket. Drawn against the Russians of ARES fe, the match was set to take place on Inferno.
RES took the opening pistol on the back of strong play from Zainab "zAAz" Turkie, and were on their way to an extremely dominant CT half before the Russians secured four straight rounds. The half ultimately ended 10-5 in the favor of the international mix.
As in their previous match against CLG Red, ARES displayed grit, and their defense was a match for what RES had shown previously. ARES and Victoria "tory" Kazieva were so on form, in fact, that they actually took the lead from RES despite facing a deficit, and got to the coveted fifteenth round first. In the last round of regulation, RES were able to put an end to ARES's winning ways, and send the match to overtime.
Starting the first half of overtime on the CT side, RES were able to secure two rounds to see the score to 17-16. Though the Russian squad threatened in the second half, RES were able to secure the victory, with Christine "potter" Chi nicely acquitting herself after struggling against Squared fe.
With this match done, all four playoff teams are known. RES have a date with Dignitas fe 7:00 AM EST. The match will see potter square off against some of her American Eagles teammates from the WESG qualifier earlier in the month. Following that match, the second matchup between Squared fe and Keyd Stars fe will take place at 11:00 AM EST.
