NRG top second EPICENTER qualifier
After coming up short against Luminosity in the first EPICENTER qualifier, Damian "daps" Steele and his team have secured a spot in the Closed Qualifier on their second attempt. They had a relatively easy run through the bracket, squaring off against the Braveheart mix of Premier players, before taking down kr0nikz in 2-0 fashion. This set up a showdown in the finals with Mythic, who for their part had defeated Ryan "fREAKAZOiD" Abadir's Swole Patrol and Tempo Storm en route to the final.
What looked to be one of the more competitive matches of the bracket turned out to be a rather straightforward affair, as Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte led the way to a 2-0 victory over the Premier team and PUBG afficinados. The qualifier as a whole should offer some signs of improvement for the NRG squad, which have had middling results since adding both Allan "AnJ" Jensen and Cvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov – who still has not been formally announced by the organization. To demonstrate how dominant NRG were throughout the whole qualifier, their entire five-man roster are among the six highest rated players for the event.
As previously mentioned, NRG now join Luminosity in the EPICENTER Americas Closed Qualifier, which will kick-off tomorrow (September 11). They will be joined by six invited sides, who currently are not announced. The winner of this Closed Qualifier will head to St. Petersburg to play a LAN Wild Card Qualifier, where the top two teams will gain entry to the main event.
