Valve approve launders LAN 2 as a VRS event

The Canadian LAN's approval gives us some interesting insight on the VRS.

On December 19th, Mohan "launders" Govindasamy announced that Valve had approved launders LAN 2 as a Valve Ranking System (VRS), seeing the $25,001 Canadian LAN as one of the first Americas VRS events of 2025. The decision by Valve will undoubtedly raise the prestige of the 32 team event, while its approval also raises some interesting considerations and questions about the requirements for VRS events in 2025.

launders told Dust2.us that via communication with Valve, CS2's publisher told the tournament organizer that they could email Valve to apply for an exemption from the invite and announcement requirements that would normally come with running a tier-two VRS event.

Having done so and received approval, the open LAN will now be on the VRS calendar and earn teams much-needed early points as they look to fight for the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 this summer.

Notable teams set to attend launders LAN 2 include:

*Lycus Empire
United States MCS
United States Nouns

United States Nouns.fe
United States NRG

There are also a number of mixteams featuring Advanced teams heading to the Toronto LAN, which is set to start on January 4th.
