Breaking: Complexity bench floppy, release JamezIRL after Major failure
Complexity have announced the benching of Ricky "floppy" Kemery, seeing the rifler leave Complexity's roster after more than two years within the NA's organization's ranks. Additionally, Complexity have parted ways with assistant coach, James "JamezIRL" Macaulay, seeing the former Ghost head coach leave the organization after 1.5 years.
floppy's benching and JamezIRL's removal follows Complexity's exit from the Perfect World Shanghai Major, which saw the squad fall in the Opening Stage stage with a 2-3 record which saw losses to FlyQuest, Passion UA, and BIG.
More generally, the changes come after a disappointing end to the end for the American roster which also saw the squad recently fail to make deep runs at Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024, ESL Pro League Season 20, and the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024.
During this period floppy's individual form has struggled to a degree, with a 0.95 rating at the opening stage of the Major and a 0.91 rating at IEM Rio being recent lowlights around an overall underperforming year. The benching may also be seen as related to recent comments made by COL's star, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, to HLTV, where he said the team were willing to do whatever is necessary to win in 2025.
Complexity's general manager, Graham "messioso" Pitt provided the following comment to Dust2.us:
Unfortunately we have reached a point where we no longer saw a future with these five players together, having exhausted many options to try and re-find the form and consistency we showed back in the early days of _CS2. Ricky has been a huge part of the last three years at Complexity, who along with JT and Grim, is the most tenured LAN player in the organizations history in CS:GO/2. Ricky is an incredibly talented player and I have no doubt he will land on his feet because you can't stop the flop.
With Complexity moving floppy to the bench, the team are currently:
-
Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
-
Michael "Grim" Wince
-
Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli
-
Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski
-
Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (Coach)
-
Ricky "floppy" Kemery (Inactive)
Complexity will now begin the search for a new fifth ahead of the 2025 season.
