USA finishes 4th, Poland takes gold at IESF Female world championship
The IESF Female World Esports Championship concluded yesterday with Team Poland taking home the gold medal. The Polish roster consisting primarily of NAVI Javelins players went undefeated in five best-of-three's to win gold, while defeating the US roster in the semifinals.
Team USA advanced out of groups with two separate 2-0 wins over Team Netherlands, then decisively beat Team Spain in the quarterfinals. They would fall to the eventual champions in Team Poland in the semifinals, then fell just short of medaling with a loss to Team Portugal in the 3rd place match.
Several of the Team USA players showed out at the event though. TSM Impact's Marissa "madss" Dasta finished the tournament with a 1.26 HLTV player rating (eighth highest amongst all players), while FlyQuest Red's Emma "emy" Choe notched a 1.22 and Blue Otter Karma's Olga "olya" Kryvulych posted a 1.17.
emy will reconnect with several of her FlyQuest Red teammates at the ESL Impact Season 6 Finals in Stockholm, which begin Nov. 22. Coline "Kaoday" Le Floc'h (France), Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie (Canada), and Vivienne "BiBiAhn" Quach (Australia) all competed at IESF.
