It was the ultimate defeat

Liquid send friendly foes to lower bracket

A tough showing for Complexity in Brazil.

It was a quick contest this morning between Liquid and Complexity as the two North American rosters were forced to play one another in the opening round of IEM Rio 2024. Complexity are coming off a rougher run of form having struggled to find consistency at ESL Pro League Season 20, which included an elimination match against, coincidentally, Liquid.

Liquid had a tough time at the BLAST Premier Fall Final and is looking to make its mark on the international stage and show that it can consistently be a top-five team in the world.

Inferno was the battleground between the two, with Liquid ultimately choosing that map over Dust2. It was a tough game for Complexity, as they never seemed to be fully in control at any point of the match. Their first-half CT side appeared disjointed, losing rounds where they held an advantage, ultimately leading to a 4-8 deficit at the half.

The second half didn't get much better for Complexity as Liquid continued to steamroll over their opponents and push through to secure a 13-6 map victory to head into the Group A upper bracket semi-finals against Natus Vincere. As for Complexity, they will now face Imperial later this afternoon at 04:30PM.
