PGL acquires Esportal assets
PGL has announced that it has acquired some of Esportal's assets and will keep its matchmaking platform alive for the foreseeable future.
The beleaguered company filed for bankruptcy last July in Stockholm District Court and was then overseen by an estate attorney who advised temporarily keeping the platform alive while it searched for interested buyers.
PGL has acquired the company's assets to develop the matchmaking platform internationally. The service has historically been known as catering to Nordic nations.
The organizer says it will undergo a process of identifying areas of "improvement" or "cleanup". Within three to four months, the organizer will either "migrate, reorganize, and maybe rebrand the platform."
"Our decision to acquire these Esportal assets stems from our belief that the platform is a valuable tool for the esports community," PGL stated. "We aim to preserve and enhance this resource for players worldwide."
