SK tops Group A over Gambit
The veto for this best of one match resulted in Overpass being selected, which is a very strong map for both teams. Despite winning the second round force-buy, Gambit severely struggled in the first half of the map, only securing five Counter-Terrorist rounds to SK’s ten. This map was defined by the many big plays by Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, who was by far the best player in the server, boasting a 1.61 rating. Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev led an admirable T side, but his and Abay “HObbit” Khasenov’s play wasn’t enough to halt the SK machine who inevitably closed out the map 16-12.
This match, as well as the recent past with Bektiyar “fitch” Bahytov in the lineup, further shows us that Gambit can still be a strong team despite their loss of Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko. SK will get tomorrow off, and will meet their semifinal opponent after the final decider match on Saturday.
Gambit will now face off against the winner of mousesports and Heroic for their shot at the playoffs.
