Yes, a knife was actually unboxed in the audience during IEM Cologne
During the live broadcast of IEM Cologne, the camera pointed to a fan in the stands who was trying to open a case on his laptop. This is nothing new and has been done several times at events in the past years.
One fan even went so far during the BLAST.tv Paris Major to fake a knife unboxing which immediately drew the ire of fans across the Twittersphere.
However, it appears that one fan had legitimately unboxed a knife this morning during the FaZe v. SAW quarterfinal match at IEM Cologne 2024.
The unidentified fan appears to have opened up a Ursus Knife | Doppler, which, according to multiple skin marketplace sites, can cost around $400.
James Banks has even confirmed the unboxing was legitimate after speaking with the fan and taking pictures of the individual's inventory and trade ban on the item.
It's a nice story for the live unboxing, especially after the last on-camera knife unboxing left a sour taste in everyone's mouth.
