Valve's most recent update includes SnapTap reference

It's so good that even the developers are taking notice.

Last night, Valve introduced a new update for CS2 which updated both Mills and Pool Day to the latest version, while also introducing some small changes that were meant for quality of life.

However, an eagle-eyed content creator noted that in the change log, Valve had recently taken note of Razer's SnapTap technology, which has caused some controversy and divisiveness in the competitive communitiy.

FaZe star Robin "ropz" Kool stated that the technology "shouldn't be allowed". Prior to the public announcement for the technology, it was revealed by Martin "STKYO" Styk that several professional players and teams had already been using the keyboards.

In the shared screenshot below, it's clear that Valve is tracking the utilization of SnapTap, but it's unclear what the full tracking is meant for or if it will affect future gameplay.

The full breakdown of last night's update is below;

Mills

Updated to the latest version from the Community Workshop (Update Notes)

Pool Day

Updated to the latest version from the Community Workshop (Update Notes)

MISC

  • Slightly delayed tagging effects to reduce instances of players experiencing teleportation when taking damage. Delaying tagging results in a smoother experience, however players will have slightly more time to move at full speed when receiving damage. The delay can be adjusted on servers using convar sv_predictable_damage_tag_ticks (default 2)

  • Fixed a case where players could start the bomb plant animation outside of bomb sites

  • Fixed a case where the revolver barrel would rotate erroneously

  • Reduced initial loading times for the Settings and Play menus
