Latest Valve Ranking sees minor shakeup in Americas standings
Complexity continue to dominate the Americas region this July as teams are slowly coming back from the player break and looking anxiously at the August 7th cut off for the upcoming 2024 Perfect World Shanghai Major.
Liquid, FURIA, and M80 are the more well known teams to undergo roster changes this offseason. M80 is dangerously close to the cut off for a direct invite to the Americas RMR, sitting just 36 points ahead of Marcelo "coldzera" David's RED Canids.
In this year's Major cycle, the developer has decided to move on from the Open Qualifier system and will instead rely on their own ranking methodology to directly invited regional teams to a Closed Qualifier or the RMR itself. The top eight teams will go directly to Shanghai, while sixteen teams from both South America and North America will fight amongst themselves in two Closed Qualifiers for just four spots each in the Chinese RMR LAN.
With only a few competitions in North America before the August 7th deadline, teams like M80 who are going to play in the Esports World Cup, need as many points as they can get to ensure they can skip the closed qualifier and earn a direct spot to the RMR.
