ASTRA: "The other teams should be scared of us because we're doing so well without backing"
Let Her Cook have been the belles of the ball at the ESL Impact Season 5 finals, taking down NAVI Javelins and Fluxo Demons in the group stage to make playoffs in an incredibly impressive fashion. While many would expect NAVI Javelins or Imperial Fe to be the obvious contenders to win this event, Let Her Cook's Mayline-Joy "ASTRA" Champliaud thinks otherwise.
On day one after her team's win over NAVI Javelins, the French former NIP Impact player spoke to Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore about the win, the teams status as an orgless team, whether they plan on sticking together, and who she thinks is the best team here in Dallas.
Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.
Let Her Cook claimed a shock win over NAVI Javelins to start their run here in Dallas. What went into that win over the second-best team in the world?
To be honest it was a very amazing feeling but we expected it because in the league we already beat them so it was just keeping the mentals and doing what we did before.
With you and Joanana taking over as IGLs after kezziwOw retired, how do you think the team has changed?
It's a lot more dynamic and we have a lot more ideas of our own and we don't feel stuck doing set strats, we feel more free and being ourselves and being confident.
Before LHC qualified for the LAN they actually disbanded. What's the situation now that the team has made the LAN and is playing so well?
That's a very good question. That's something we need to think about because at first I was trying to stand-in for this and now we're at Dallas but there could be changes, we could stay together, we could not, that's something we have to discuss because we don't know.
LHC is the only orgless squad here, do you think that puts the team at a significant disadvantage?
I don't think that [it matters] so much. We are the only team without an org and we still managed to qualify. The other teams should be scared of us because we're doing so well without backing. It brings us an advantage I think.
Did the team try to find an org after qualifying?
A little bit but it was just for the duration of the event because as I said there is a lot of uncertainty with this squad. We tried but not much luck.
Your next match will be against Fluxo Demons. How do you feel heading into that match?
They're going to be a much harder opponent because they are the favorite of the whole tournament. It's going to be a challenge for us but we will see.
Fluxo Demons are the best team here? Not Imperial fe?
In my opinion... in my opinion.
Why do you think that?
Fluxo has a really strong stage presence and mindset and they play an aggressive type of CS. It benefits them more in CS2 than CS:GO, they have the potential to win this.
After this interview Let Her Cook continued their tour de force here in Dallas with a win over HSG fe and are now set to face Imperial Fe in the grand finals at 05:30PM.
