What to expect from Complexity v. HEROIC
To start their EPL Season 19 journey, Complexity battled underdogs PERA and came out ahead, if not a bit too close for comfort. But, as we all know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades; ultimately, it's Complexity to stay alive in the upper bracket. In their upper semifinal, Complexity face HEROIC, who themselves won their first match against NIP, also a bit too close for comfort. One way or another, one of these two teams will make playoffs, let's take a look at the match up, shall we?
Complexity's form
13-11 and 13-9 really are too close against a team like PERA. Their first event since elimination from the Major following a 2-0 start in the Elimination Stage, Complexity have to put their best foot forward and secure a decent result to show that they can still hang with the top dogs. Defeating HEROIC is one way to do that.
-
floppy was in complete form against PERA with a 1.39 rating
-
Will likely need to play their Nuke, which they have few officials on
-
How will Complexity strategize against part-time AWPer nicoodoz?
We still don't really know where HEROIC stand
HEROIC are a tricky one. They seem to slot into the T2 gatekeeping team slot quite well, beating teams like Imperial, FURIA, and NIP, and losing to G2, VP and Eternal Fire. Yet there's some flashes of brilliance, like beating FaZe, and also some terrible dark spots, like losing to OG. If they can climb back to the heights of the previous roster, it will be here, at EPL, in the studio environment, with no pressure and a mountain of preparation.
-
Let NIP get to double overtime on Vertigo, not great!
-
NertZ continues to be the player ENCE cultivated with a 1.13 rating over the past three months
-
Make sure to watch for nicoodoz's part-time AWPing habits, it surely affects the tactics HEROIC go for
Previous Matchups
These two rosters played each other once, at the Copenhagen Major Elimination Stage in the 1-0 pool. Complexity came out ahead on Vertigo in a brutally intense affair, winning 19-17.
Likely Vetoes
As the highest seeded team in the group, Complexity have the liberty of choosing to ban first or second. As teams usually do, they will likely go second.
-
HEROIC ban Inferno (Permaban)
-
Complexity ban Mirage (Permaban)
-
HEROIC pick Nuke (Complexity rarely play and HEROIC picked it against NIP)
-
Complexity pick Vertigo (Defeated HEROIC last they played on it and have only looked good)
-
Decider Ancient (Both teams have 50% winrate)
