Liquid secure playoffs in tight 2-0 sweep
Liquid have found themselves in the playoffs at ESL Pro League Season 19 after securing a 2-0 win against Monte in their upper-bracket semi-final match. Liquid is the first Americas team to progress to this stage as Imperial and M80 fell short in their opening groups last week.
It was a hotly contest match on Monte's pick of Ancient where Liquid pulled out a strong T-side to help get themselves started. Those five offensive rounds were important as Liquid were not able to out-perform Monte's defenses and found themselves in overtime. Despite Casper "cadiaN" Møller shouting that Monte would not get any more, the Europeans, in fact, did get more as they pushed it to third overtime before Liquid finally pulled out a 22-19 map win.
Mirage was equally as close as Liquid struggled in their defenses to open up the first half, only getting six rounds on their own map pick. The offense was where Liquid really came alive as they powered their way through Monte and starting to gain a bigger lead. The international squad were first to twelve, but wouldn't you know it, Monte made it close only for it to come down to a 1v1 that who else but cadiaN was able to win.
Liquid are now through to the playoffs as the first team from the region and will wait their opponent after the end of all matches are played.
