No Canadians in Copenhagen
For the first time ever, there will not be a single Canadian at a Counter-Strike Major after Liquid's defeat to Complexity in the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR.
There have been fourteen players from Canada to make an appearance at the Major, with Keith "NAF" Markovic leading the way with ten stops across the world. His first Major was at ESL One Cologne 2016 alongside Damian "daps" Steele and Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz on the legendary OpTic team that also featured Will "RUSH" Wierzba and Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas.
Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen and Keven "AZK" Larivière were the first Canadian players ever to end the inaugural DreamHack Winter 2013 Major with Complexity and iBUYPOWER, respectively. Complexity would finish 3rd-4th while iBUYPOWER fell to 13th-16th.
Canada usually has two to three players who attend Majors, with the most ever at four during the ESL One: Cologne 2014, FACEIT London 2018, and IEM Katowice 2019 Majors.
Canada was also only one of seven nations to have attended every Major through the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 alongside Denmark, Russia, Sweden, the United States, France, and Ukraine. That streak sadly ends here as Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and NAF fell at the final hurdle to Complexity, who guaranteed that there would be at least three Americans attending Copenhagen. However, that number is also the fewest in Major history, with the United States previously only sending four to the PGL Krakow 2017 Major.
