Reason part with roster as team searches for more support

After five months with Reason, Vintage are looking for a new home in 2024.

Reason have today parted ways with their North American roster, which is now set to play under the name Vintage as they search for a new home. The decision to part ways with the British organization comes after the squad reclaimed their spot in ESL Challenger League for Season 47 after besting Bad News Bears in Relegation.

Reason originally picked up the squad, then playing as No Impact, in July as part of their return to Counter-Strike after a three-year hiatus. Unfortunately, this return was quite bumpy for Reason as they new squad struggled to maintain a consistent roster throughout the season, ultimately finishing ECL S46 with a 2-12 record. Despite this, the team rallied recently and claimed a spot back in ECL S47 before parting ways with Brody "BeaKie" Kelly on December 17th.

Sean "Coastal" Thompson told Dust2.us that with the team back in ECL, they decided to leave Reason due to the British organization being able to offer only minor support for the American squad. In particular, Reason was not paying the team a salary during their five months with the organization, something Vintage will be looking for with their new home.

With the move to Vintage, the squad has also seen another roster change, as Austin "AJaxz" Janocha has stepped down from the roster, telling Dust2.us that his full-time job is currently pulling his attention away from competing. As such, Vintage will need to find two new members if they want to start up again after the winter player break.

Vintage currently consists of:

  • United States Brennan “grape” Greer

  • United States Keanu “Danejoris” Reyes

  • United States Muhammad "Mellow" Ali

  • United States Sean "Coastal" Thompson (Coach)

I mean, team record aside, why would they agree to represent an org that isn't paying them?

you can argue that they cant dedicate the time to CS since they have to work so cs is like a hobby at that point so you cant really get something from nothing

you could also argue there is no real off-season at the level they are at so they need to almost be paid year-round for not even being a top team in N/A. I played in the PECOS league out in New Mexico for 3 years (baseball) and averaged 1-2,000 fans at our games.

I still needed to work a job during the off-season while I wasn't getting paid and even during the season the money wasn't great. We even had to do the field work ourselves.

Trying to become a professional at something that is very coveted is a hard journey the older you get.
