
Mauisnake: "I was gonna work in the NBA as an analyst"
Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg is one of Counter-Strike's premier analysts, but that might not have been the case if he had made a different choice after college.
The Hawai'i native detailed that he could have pursued a career in professional basketball after graduation from Columbia University with a BA in statistics. While he detailed in a later post on X that he did not have an actual job offer but he spoke with multiple in the NBA space who said he was well qualified to work in the league.
Mauisnake said that he turned down the opportunity because the starting salary was too low, at just $40k per year. He also detailed that he saw an opening for different kinds of analysts in the CS space, and he had credibility and a base of knowledge from playing the game at a higher level.
