Mythic Winter Cup set to start; Torqued mix and Akimbo top OQ

The $5k Mythic Winter Cup is set to start in short order tonight, with eight of North America's top teams doing battle for what very well may the last tier-two event before the winter player break. Last night, the open qualifier for said event was played, seeing a Torqued mixteam helmed by Josh "steel" Nissan top the 90-team qualifier.

Torqued, which consists of steel, Mason "Lake" Sanderson, Kyle "Wolffe" Greenfield, Jack "micro" Ryan, and Silas "silas" Marrufo fought their way through a fairly strong slate of teams to come out on top, notably besting a Badass, with two-standins, 13-7 to make the main event.

Speaking of Badass, with the squad fielding two of FLUFFY AIMERS' players as stand-ins during the qualifier, FA has seemingly dropped out of the main event and been replaced by Akimbo, who finished just behind Torqued in the qualifier. As a reminder, Akimbo are an Advanced playoffs squad with names including Sebastian "Florence" Ogarev and Kaitlin "Keiti" Boop.
