FLUFFY AIMERS, Badass felled in day two of ECL S46 playoffs
Day two of the ESL Challenger League Season 46 playoffs concluded last night, with FLUFFY AIMERS and Badass being the causalities of last night's action. Over in the upper bracket M80 managed to secure a confident win over Party Astronauts while, in a fairly shocking result, BOSS secured a narrow 2-0 win over Nouns to send the latter team into the lower bracket.
The first series to conclude ended up being quite the strange affair as Badass and EG took turns being absolutely dominant on each of the three maps played. The series started with EG taking Vertigo 13-4 before Badass answered back with a 13-5 win on Ancient. Third map was equally decisive as EG closed things out 13-4 on Mirage. Meanwhile, Unjustified took care of FLUFFY AIMERS in a far more standard three-map series. Unjustified started the series by taking Ancient 13-7, FA winning Inferno 13-11, and Unjustified ultimately closing things out with a 13-3 win on Mirage.
Moving into the upper bracket, M80 were fairly dominant in their series against PA, with Michael "Swisher" Schmid and co. winning Nuke 13-8 and Vertigo 13-7. As for the BOSS versus Nouns series, few could expect BOSS to claim such a confident 2-0 win over Nouns, one of the region's best teams. The series started with BOSS winning their opponent's map pick, Vertigo, 13-6, before battling to win their own map pick, Ancient, 16-13. This win is key for the orgless squad as they now need to win at most one more series to secure a spot in ESL Pro League Season 19 — a huge boon for a team looking for a new home.
