Close but no cigar for JT

Complexity go down swinging against FaZe in stunning series

In an amazing series, FaZe proved to be made of slightly sterner stuff.

In a stunning series, Complexity fell to FaZe in a nail-biting series reminiscent of the IEM Sydney 2023 grand finals. This rematch saw both squads have to pull out all the stops to fight for every round, with Complexity being the closest team to date to nearly topple FaZe's unbeaten LAN record in CS2. Unfortunately for NA's team however, an excellent swan song series from Finn "karrigan" Andersen's troops allowed FaZe to pull ahead and win the series 2-1.

This semifinal series began on Anubis, Complexity's pick, with the unfortunate trend of Complexity's slow start in series coming back to bite them almost immediately. Despite winning their opening CT-side pistol, FaZe would make COL look relatively silly for picking the map as they won the next ten rounds in a row before Complexity managed to get back on the board.

After switching sides, and shaking off their embarrassing start and another pistol round loss, Complexity came back in a huge way, winning the next seven rounds in a row on their T-side to bring the score to 9-11. However, map one would ultimately go the way of FaZe as they won two of the next three rounds to claim a 13-10 win... so close but no cigar on the comeback for Complexity.

Moving onto FaZe's pick of Nuke, one would expect a decisive showing for FaZe after their work on Anubis, however it was anything but that. In an incredibly strange state of affairs, the first nine rounds in a row were traded back and forth over and over and over again, with both teams taking turns to pull off insane clutches and winning massive forcebuy rounds. Towards the end of the half, this unicorn situation finally came to an end, with Complexity breaking the stalemate to take their CT-side 8-4. After a strange and pitched first half, the second half of Nuke ended up being anything but, with Complexity shifting into a whole new gear on their T-side. Led by the absolute menace of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Complexity would batter and bash FaZe to force a third map with a 13-5 win on Nuke.

After absolute stunners on Anubis and Nuke, ultimately for Complexity Ancient was where FaZe demonstrated why they are the undisputed best team in CS2 at the moment. An absolute clinic from FaZe and some poor decision-making from Complexity saw the former team monopolize their T-side, taking a heartbreaking 9-3 lead that was built on Håvard "rain" Nygaard and Helvijs "broky" Saukants winning multiple 1v4 rounds against Compexity. After switching sides, things continued to go awry for Complexity, with a clinic from rain being the deciding factor powering FaZe to take the series 13-7.
