Valve patch "Michael Jackson" bug in latest patch
Two days after the Counter-Strike 2 community was hit by a smooth criminal, Valve have patched out the strange movement exploit in today's patch to the game. Alongside fixing the admittedly quite strange bug, this new update has brought a number of new quality of life features and big fixes including fixes to players clipping through ceiling and adding back large player count.
For those who weren't aware of the phenomenon, the Michael Jackson, Macro Jackson, or Smooth Criminal bug would see a player's model stretch out and contort with the model's feet sticking to the ground while the body would slide to the left of the right. This would result in the target becoming incredibly hard to track and shoot accurately. For an example take a peek at Erik "fl0m" Flom's video below:
While this bug has been around before it went viral this week, it was quickly brought to Valve's attention, with their Twitter header briefly referencing it. While it was funny, and somewhat annoying, after players figured out how to reproduce the bug, Valve's quick resolution of the issue demonstrates their attentiveness to community trends and quick rate of patches following the release of CS2.
