Complexity jumps up in latest Valve ranking update
Today, Valve have published their first update to its World Rankings since August, and the first since the release of Counter-Strike 2. This time around, the only change to the model is that teams need to play ten matches to appear on the ranking as opposed to five matches. Other than that, the model has simply been updated with the last two months of matches. You can see Valve's ranking on their GitHub page.
Like previous rankings, this time around there are still a few flaws to how Valve has ranked teams. This time around MIBR has taken the top spot despite being ranked lower on HLTV than the next four teams on the list. Additionally, FURIA's position at sixth feels a bit harsh when compared to the recent performances of BESTIA, Liquid, and 9z.
Another fun, albeit unintentional, oddity of Valve's ranking is that due to Liquid fielding Damian "daps" Steele for the BLAST Premier Fall American Showdown, they are considered an NA team again as far as Valve is concerned. While this is likely to change, they have jumped all the way up to fourth place for the moment. The only other thing worth noting is that fifth through tenth place is highly tumultuous, with it be completely different when compared to the last update in August.
The current top ten teams in the Americas region according to Valve are shared below.
