mousesports overpower Luminosity, to decider

After a shaky start, mousesports came back strong to see themselves live another round in Cancun.

Saturday was the day when the Group Stage was wrapped up. The first game saw mousesports face off against Luminosity for a spot in the Decider match against OpTic. The maps were vetoed down to Train, Nuke and Overpass.

With Train underway, mousesports were the first to get on the board with their T-side. However, with some end-of-round economic damage Luminosity came back and won a forcebuy. From there the Brazilians pushed forward with that advantage, with Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato shutting down the first full buy round with a monster 4k. mousesports managed to pick up on further round, but it was Luminosity moving forward to a 7-2 lead.

mousesports then saw a return to the scoreboard straight after the round, with strong team performances from them all rolling to even the rounds out, with Chris "chrisJ" de Jong leading the charge, before Luminosity picked up the final round of the half to secure a narrow 8-7 lead.

From there it was Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný who grabbed a 3k to secure mouz the second pistol round. He followed that up with 2k's in the following two rounds, before NEKIZ returned to keep Luminosity's hands on the game. But from there it was all the European's, with Miikka "suNny" Kemppi coming alive in the final rounds as mousesports secured six rounds in a row to claim the first map 16-9.

Nuke was up next, and mousesports came out strong into their T-side with the pistol round. From there they managed to keep their lead by taking the anti-ecos and followed that on with claiming the first full buy round. Luminosity then claimed the following round with an exceptional Deagle forcebuy, with NEKIZ claiming three heads, but they couldn't capitalise on the position. chrisJ took three in the following round to put his team back on the board, before working with the rest of his team on a strong run.

With mousesports 9-1 up, chrisJ continued to punish Luminosity with an exquisite smoke play to catch the Brazilians off guard. The fourteenth round came and although Luminosity managed to cause some form of a retake, they were unable to take the round. Luminosity were able to claim the final round of the half, thanks to a NEKIZ 3k, but the Brazilians were still 13-2 down at the half.

With Luminosity now on their T-side, and with a lot of work needed to get back into the game,  secured the pistol round with only losing one player. But the following round saw mousesports force up, intending to kill the game off quickly, and it was Martin "STYKO" Styk pulling out all the stops by winning a 1v1 to edge themselves closer to match point. With their fifteenth round a smooth win thanks to superior weaponry, their final was a much closer affair but still went their way. The European side claimed the second map swiftly with a 16-3 score.
