ROG Masters Americas Qualifier Recap
The Main Qualifier for the ROG Masters Americas LAN, which will grant a spot at the ROG Masters Finals later this year, concluded on the 8th of August, with Rise Nation acquiring a spot in the regional finals. This qualifier featured many smaller national qualifiers where Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, the United States, and Canada were all granted guaranteed spots. There were also two general Americas qualifiers open to teams from any country in the Americas.
Notable teams such as Vault, Bee’s Money Crew, and subtLe made it through the country-locked qualifiers without much resistance, while Rise Nation prevailed in the general qualifier over their peers in District 7 and Mask Off. To the dismay of some, due to the lack of seeding, Rise Nation and District 7 had to play each other for a spot, while Colombian team 6Sense only had to play their countrymen New Arise to secure their spot.
Due to Zeta Strike and Bee’s Money Crew dropping out of the tournament before its conclusion, Rise Nation got a free ride to the finals, where they met the second best team in the qualifier, Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien’s subtLe. Players on both of these teams have experience playing in qualifiers such as these, as OCEAN and Jonathan "Jonji" Carey represented Canada and Matthew "no_one" Congdon and Jake "kaboose" McDonald represented the United States in China for WESG in January. Rise Nation trumped subtLe on two maps to qualify for the LAN finals which will take place at a later date.
We can expect some of the lower tier NA teams to be among the 3 invites for the LAN finals where the 4 teams will battle through a single elimination bracket, all to win a spot at the ROG Masters Global Finals.
