Astralis upset FaZe, to semis
FaZe, known for their pistol prowess, took the first round of Overpass and, despite some frags by Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, took the following round as well. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, after a miraculous performance in his previous map, got off to a strong start against Astralis, with FaZe taking the normal 3-0 lead. The first gun round went the way of Astralis however with Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye taking point.
NiKo didn't allow Astralis to take the lead immediately, with yet another triple kill, but a big quadruple by Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel allowed the Danes to reset FaZe. RUBINO continued his good play, and Astralis secured seven rounds before Håvard "rain" Nygaard helped FaZe to win two more. dupreeh closed out the first half with another triple kill, ending with an 8-7 scoreline.
FaZe once again took the pistol round along with the following round, but off of good play by RUBINO, Astralis fought back and took the lead 10-9. The next rounds were very back and forth, with Astralis eventually securing match point. Kjaerbye finished off the game in style and the Danish squad took down FaZe 16-13.
Astralis now moves on to the semifinals where they are set to face the second seed from Group A. FaZe will wait to play the winner of Cloud9 vs Liquid tomorrow to decide the second team to advance from Group B.
