Envy and Just For Fun trot out new lineups for first ESL One Rio qualifier
The recently reported Envy lineup featuring Kaleb "moose" Jayne, Buğra "Calyx" Arkın, and Michał "MICHU" Müller has signed up for the first open qualifier for the ESL One Rio Americas Minor. Notably, Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić is not present at this time.
Envy has recently made headlines after the departure of Jacob "FugLy" Medina, who spoke of a lack of communication between the players and management as well as an uneven distribution of power between players.
The team also lost their ESL Pro League spot following the league's restructuring, and have received an invitation to ESEA MDL Season 33 as a result. Should they accept the invitation, they would compete against the likes of Rugratz and Chaos and look to re-qualify for Pro League via the next Global Challenge.
Envy's lineup for tomorrow's qualifier is:
- Noah "Nifty" Francis
- Ryan "ryann" Welsh
- Kaleb "moose" Jayne
- Buğra "Calyx" Arkın
- Michał "MICHU" Müller
Also appearing on the list of registered teams is another Just For Fun mix, this time featuring ex-Riot Squad captain Pujan "FNS" Mehta, FugLy, and Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker alongside core duo Matthew "Wardell" Yu and Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik.
The mix last played in the DreamHack Open Anaheim qualifier with Anthony "vanity" Malaspina and Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor instead of FNS and yay. vanity has since gone on to join Chaos, while ANDROID remains teamless after his departure from Envy.
Just For Fun are, for now:
- Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik
- Matthew "Wardell" Yu
- Jacob "FugLy" Medina
- Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker
- Pujan "FNS" Mehta
Each open qualifier will reward two spots at the Closed Qualifier, which is set to take place in early March.
