FURIA invited to Roobet Cup

Despite some growing pains, the Brazilians have earned more invites to events.

The Roobet Cup has been announced for 2023, with the competition taking place between October 25th and November 2nd which is only three days after the conclusion of IEM Sydney and overlaps with the Thunderpick World Championship 2023. The online competition will have sixteen teams with a $250,000 prizepool.

Four teams have already been invited, one of which is FURIA. The Brazilians have faced some recent struggles as they crashed out of IEM Cologne and suffered a few online losses which included the IEM Sydney 2023 qualifiers. The team has been under immense pressure and scrutiny since the signings of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes, the former of which came with a high price tag.

Fans are holding out hope, however as the team continues to get settled into a new system and a new continent following an extended stay in Europe for better practice.

FURIA is one of four teams invited so far to the competition and will be joined by Astralis, NIP, and Roobet Cup 2022 winners, BIG. At the previous iteration of the event, North American fans saw Complexity finish in 9th-12th while Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken finished in 2nd place with FaZe.

The teams currently signed up for Roobet Cup 2023 are:

  • Denmark Astralis

  • Sweden NIP

  • BIG

  • Brazil FURIA
