neaLaN on EG shuffle collapse: "I would also like to know what happened"
In his debut event since departing from Evil Geniuses, Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov and his new teammates in GamerLegion have faltered in their opening matchup, falling to Ukrainian side Monte 2-0, shipping the European mix down to the lower bracket with immediate effect.
Shortly after the loss to Monte, Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore spoke to neaLaN regarding what went wrong in the match versus Monte, how he has been fitting into GamerLegion, and his perspective on his final chaotic days on Evil Geniuses' roster.
Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.
What do you think went wrong in this match against Monte?
I think we're still a new team, and we didn't get a lot of time to practice, but in the same way, it's not an excuse. Of course, we played bad, we didn't play like in the practice. I think the first match is always hard for new teams, so we're looking forward to recovering.
I'm curious how you ended up on GamerLegion. What prompted you to keep being the IGL of an English-speaking team?
I'm speaking both languages pretty well, so I don't really care too much about languages when [deciding on] what team I want to play.Of course, CIS would be easier, but I think I'm fine.
How much input did you have on the GamerLegion roster? Were you just slotted in or did you have some decision-making power?
I think when I joined the team the roster was already ready, and I think I'm the last guy who joined the team.
Before joining GamerLegion it seemed like you might be part of Evil Geniuses' European roster featuring JACKZ and electroNic. What do you think went wrong with that roster being unable to form?
I actually would also like to know what happened (laughs). I don't know actually.
Did it seem like a realistic possibility that the team was going to come together?
I think EG or valens already confirmed that the rumors were right about the roster, but something went wrong at the end; it is what it is.
As the IGL of the squad how much input did you have over roster changes?
Not a lot.
You say not a lot... does that mean for example when they brought in refrezh did you have any say over that?
Um... yeah I said my word, yeah I said my word.
The word was?
It would be nice to play with him.
