FURIA secures first and only win so far for region at Cologne
We've seen Liquid, Complexity, and Imperial play, all of which are sporting new rosters. All of them up to this point, have fallen below the mark on what was hoped for. For FURIA, they come into the event with the most hype surrounding their addition of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes in place of André "drop" Abreu and Rafael "saffee" Costa. With the opening clash against Grayhound, a dominant victory is expected from the Brazilians who have incredible star power behind them.
With a game on FURIA, there was hope that the Brazilians could perform better than Liquid did against Astralis. After just five rounds, FURIA held a slight 3-2 advantage. It was looking like FURIA would be taking the game away as FalleN was proving he was the right man to come in for the squad. A solid 9-6 T-Half for FURIA was enough to potentially get them through the first round of play.
The second half of Ancient quickly became more problematic for FURIA as the rounds would go back-and-forth, forcing both sides to scrounge for rounds with poor economy. Finally, FURIA started to pull away even if they almost lost a round to a bunch of Glocks. FURIA would end up converting the map, closing it out efficiently 16-11.
FURIA will now play against Monte tomorrow at 06:30AM
