Party Astronauts come close
Party Astronauts, newly revived after their separation from Evil Geniuses, began their European campaign against IEM Rio Major winners Virtus.Pro in an opening best-of-one at ESL Challenger Katowice. For the American team, this is a match where hope of a victory is slim when considering VP's past performances, their world ranking, and naturally, their ability and achievements. For Virtus.pro, this should have been a walk in the park.
With Inferno, Party Astronauts got to one of their better maps, however the Russians were the first ones to claim any sort of advantage as they would win the pistol and jump out to a 6-1 lead on their T-side.
However, the Americans would start their comeback and slowly chip at the lead until they brought it to a respectable 7-8 half on their CT-side.
For Party Astronauts, they would continue this momentum of a comeback through to their T-side as they would go ahead 13-8 to bring North American fans hope of a true comeback.
Virtus.pro were there to gather themselves, string together several rounds, and ensure that they would not be upset as they claimed the game 16-13.
