The Advanced superteam will be in ESL Challenger League next season

WITHOUTWARNING win Advanced, secure ECL

The mostly ECL-level talent return to the top tier of domestic competition.

WITHOUTWARNING, consisting of Gabe "Spongey" Greiner, Saad "Pluto" Siraj, Kevin "consti" Yi, Andrew "Tender" Cote, and David "J0LZ" Jolin, defeated Rocket in a one-sided 3-1 affair in the Grand Finals of ESEA Advanced Season 45, with their map loss coming from the default map Rocket obtained with their upper-bracket advantage.

Earlier in the playoffs, WITHOUTWARNING were sent down to the lower bracket by virtue of REIGN and a double overtime affair in the third map. But, picking themselves up from that, the team defeated StrikeX, Torch, and took revenge upon REIGN to set up that finals clash with Rocket.

Previous results would not indicate the one-sided stomp that the grand finals became. Rocket were actually one of three teams to beat WITHOUTWARNING in the regular season. Alas, it appears as if WITHOUTWARNING found a new gear to shift into to secure the ECL Season 46 slot.

This is not new terrain for the WITHOUTWARNING squad. This roster was put together from the remnants of Vendetta, a stable ECL-level team, from which consti and Tender exited to join WITHOUTWARNING. J0LZ left Strife, another ECL team for this opportunity, and Spongey and Pluto have previous experience with Bad News Bears. Before the season started, they were clearly one of the most stacked teams in Advanced, and it's positive to see them reach their expectations and finish at the top of the leaderboard.

The runners up, Rocket, as well as the next four teams, REIGN, TORCH, and the winners of the fifth-place decider between No Impact and StrikeX, will compete in relegation with the lowest four teams in ECL, timbermen, Snakes Den, BHOP, and Take Flyte to round out ESL Challenger League Season 46.

The teams in relegation are:

From ECL

  • United States timbermen

  • United States Looking for Org

  • United States BHOP

  • United States Take Flyte

From Advanced

  • United States Rocket

  • United States REIGN

  • Torch

  • United States No Impact / United States StrikeX
