Imperial deliver expected result, according to chelo
Not much was expected out of Imperial, with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo future in doubt as both FURIA and paiN are chasing after him. Vitality are also coming off an incredible achievement by winning the 2023 BLAST Paris Major, but have yet to cement themselves as the top team in the world. With their match against Imperial, the French-Danish squad are hoping to avoid the Post-Major slump while Imperial are hoping to play spoiler.
Starting on Imperial's pick of Overpass, the match quickly went the way of the Brazilians. In a show of an almost unstoppable force, Imperial steamrolled their way to a strong 12-3 T-side half, which was way more than enough to take control of the best-of-three. Vitality should have been in control, but Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes proved his words before the match that this would be an easy game as Imperial flawless closed out the second half to win Overpass 16-3.
With the game moving to Vitality's pick of Vertigo, there was hope for the Europeans that they could prolong the game, but Imperial was having none of that. Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo was instrumental on the Brazilian's T-side as he would go 16-7 and help his team win nine offensive rounds on a notoriously CT-side map. With the sides switched, it was once again all Imperial as they won the CT-side pistol and would cruise to a 16-11 win.
This win places Imperial in prime position as they now face the winner of G2 v. Cloud9. While Imperial has not beaten G2, they have beaten Cloud9 once before at the 2022 PGL Antwerp Major.
