Vitality overcome ITB's strong showing
In a true David vs. Goliath situation, Goliath came out on top today as Vitality have taken down Into The Breach with a confident 2-0 win to make their way into the semifinals as the French organization look to take home the final CS:GO Major on home soil.
Starting proceedings on Vertigo, Vitality began the series in the driver's seat as they won their CT-side pistol and the following round. However, much to the horror of the French crowd, Into The Breach quickly and resoundingly began to mount a highly effective and aggressive T-side, with Cai "CYPHER" Watson acting as the tip of the spear. Overpowering the Franco-Danish lineup, Into The Breach managed to take control and win the half 9-6, making everyone wonder if the Brits could continue to do the impossible.
Unfortunately for them, after winning their own CT-side pistol round, reality hit like a ton of tricks as Lotan "Spinx" Giladi and co. had their chance to rampage on the CT-side. Over the course of the next eleven rounds, Vitality completely mangled Into The Breach, frustrating any attempt by the underdogs to get back into the series as Vitality claimed a confident 16-11 win on their opponent's map pick.
Moving onto the second half, Vitality opened up with the pistol round, however, ITB were able to secure three and two rounds consecutively, with a single Vitality round win in between, to lead the map 5-2. Unfortunately for the British, Vitality secured all remaining rounds, but the last, to end the half 9-6 up.
Switching the sides, it looked like ITB would have a successful T-side, with a pistol win and converting the following two rounds, to even out the scoreline at 9-9. Kicking back into gear, however, the French were able to stop the train, trading back rounds to 10-10 then continuing on to a 14-10 lead.
An opening by Karol "rallen" Radowicz allowed ITB to deny Vitality a fifteenth round just yet, setting the board to 14-11. After taking a timeout, ITB found one further round before Vitality finally reached fifteen rounds. Closing out the final round with three kills, Emil "Magisk" Reif stopped ITB's push on the B-site before it even started; Vitality taking the map 16-12.
Vitality will be playing in the semifinals versus the winner of Liquid versus Apeks.
