The road is over in CS:GO for Twistzz and FaZe

FaZe fall in quarters

The end of the road for Twistzz at the last CS:GO Major.

A quarterfinal matchup between two titans of Counter-Strike was always going to produce a game that excited fans throughout the arena and at home. For FaZe, this was a battle to even make it to the Major, having gone down 2-3 during the RMR only to play a Last Chance Qualifier against Cloud9 that saw them punch their ticket to Paris. Even then, Russell "Twistzz" van Dulken and his squad would start off 0-2, only to battle back and qualify to the main stage against all odds.

For Heroic, they have always been favorites for a reason. One of the strongest and best teams in the world was overwhelmingly considered the favorites in this contest.

The game started off on FaZe's pick of Nuke. While FaZe seemed comfortable on the map when they started off 4-1, it was soon assured that the European mix was not prepared for the defenses of Heroic. The Danes would win nine rounds in a row to make it a 10-5 half, absolutely blistering FaZe in the process.

Heroic would start to slip, as they could not seem to shut the door on what should have been a relatively easy game. FaZe began their comeback. The Europeans brought it all the way back to 14-15 before Heroic finally closed it out 16-14.

The next map would see Heroic look to close it out 2-0 on their own pick of Overpass. The Danes were heavily favored to bring it home easily, but this time they could not cope with FaZe's CT-side which prevented Heroic from getting anything going to begin the map. While Heroic did seem to make it more competitive on their CT-side, it was inevitable that FaZe would close out the map and bring us to Mirage.

With it all being settled on Mirage, FaZe were certainly hoping to get off to a better start than what their T-side gave them. With only three rounds out of the first fifteen, it had Heroic victory written all over it. Despite a valiant effort at the start of the second half, the Danes continued to be red hot as they pushed their way into the semi-finals of the last-ever CS:GO Major.
