Americas region in danger of losing Legends slot
Following the elimination of the Americas Legend representation, FURIA earlier today, Liquid is the sole Americas team left in the BLAST.tv Paris Major. The exit from FURIA meant more for the region as a whole, for now, Liquid's performance could determine whether or not the Americas region has a Legends slot for the first CS2 Major in Copenhagen.
Currently at 2-1, Liquid has an opportunity to qualify for the Champions playoff stage against Into the Breach, something that would not only be a team achievement not accomplished since the Berlin Major back in 2019, but also one that would save the region from the disappointment of losing a Legends seat.
Per "The CS:GO Major Series Supplemental Rulebook" provided by Valve:
The number of teams invited from each region depends on the performance of that region in the preceding Major. Legends and Challengers invitations are allocated according to the number of teams from the region that earned their respective position in the Major: One Legends invitation is assigned to the region for every team of that region that reached the Champions stage of the previous Major.
With FURIA being eliminated short of the playoffs, it is up to Liquid to accomplish this feat and continue the sole Americas legends invitation for the next Major, the first of many for Counter-Strike 2. Fans of the region can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Liquid will have two different BO3 opportunities to qualify for the Champions stage playoffs and also retain the Legends invite for the region.
