Counter-Strike 2 release imminent, Richard Lewis claims
Earlier tonight, Richard Lewis published a report citing anonymous sources close to the game's development that Counter-Strike 2 is not only very real, but in fact in the very final stages, ready for a beta release near the end of March.
Regarding the existence of this sequel, Richard Lewis also writes that "The new version is almost certainly set to be released under the title Counter-Strike 2" and that the latest date for the release is slated for April 1st. According to Lewis' source, the creation of the game has been a priority for Valve, and its development is partly to blame for some unresolved issues in CS:GO continuing to exist.
In addition, in a boon for all CS gamers, Counter-Strike 2 will supposedly bring matchmaking servers to 128 tick, bringing amateur play in line with professional play as well as third-party clients such as FACEIT and ESEA. In fact, the entire matchmaking system will be improved to the point where, in theory, third-party clients would be rendered unnecessary. The new version of the game has even reportedly been tested by professional players and is ready for release very soon.
This is a developing story, and will be updated with more information as we receive it.
