Cloud9 win CyberPowerPC Extreme Gaming Series Winter
The grand finals began on Mirage, a map that Cloud9 has come to show as one of their best. Their early two round lead on their T-offense was silenced by an mix of upgraded pistols from Unemployed for Christmas. After managing to pick up another three rounds, UFC 's defense started to fall apart. Cloud9 breezed through till the half with an 11-4 scoreline.
Going into the second half with a seven round deficit, UFC claimed the pistol, only to be anti-eco'd by C9 with some squirrely CZ play and a close bomb defusal. Once their economy was disrupted, Cloud9 rode their stolen momentum out until they closed out the first map 16-5.
After coming off of a heavy loss in map one, UFC bounced back by taking an early three round lead on Inferno with lightning fast T-side rushes, accented by a barrage of Mac-10 bullets. They were quickly stifled by Cloud9's counter-aggression in the form of B-site flanks and pushes down mid to cut off the alt-mid plays, bringing the score to 7-5 before UFC would reply. After persevering through some sloppy rounds that followed, UFC was able to come out on top of the half with an 8-7 lead before switching sides.
Going into their T-side, Cloud9 utilized their signature aggressive plays to rack up an early three rounds in the second half. Just as they took the round lead, IGL Kenneth "koosta" Suen tactfully played around the A bombsite to get a massive 3k to take the round and claim Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham's early bought AWP. Their good fortune was short-lived as Cloud9 ground it out to map point, leaving UFC forced to save and hope for an overtime run and third map. It was all for naught as Cloud9 bullied their way into the A-site and claimed match point, 16-11.
