Rise Nation fall to Gambit in close DreamHack Winter opener

The Canadian side showed promise against the current Major champions.

DreamHack Open Winter 2017 has begun, with the Canadians of Rise Nation holding up the flag for North America. They also kicked off the tournament as the opening match, taking a difficult tie up against current Major champions Gambit.

The tie was vetoed down to Mirage on this best of one, with Gambit taking the T-side to start. The Kazakh team took the pistol and it's following rounds, carrying on to the fifth round before Rise got a reply in. Picking up only two pairs of two rounds in the first half, Brandon 'Ace' Winn and co. saw themselves facing a tough 11:4 deficit going into their T-half.

Luckily for them, they secured the second-half pistol round and it's two following, before Gambit answered back in the first buy round. Abay 'HObbit' Khasenov was on fire for Gambit, being easily the strongest player in the server, notching up an impressive 38 kills by the end of the match. Rise did kick back into action, grabbing a few rounds towards the end but Gambit ended it with a defuse, taking a close game 16-10.

Looks like a competitive game, then you realize HObbit was apparently playing 1v5.
