EG TAKE DOWN FURIA!
Evil Geniuses have beaten FURIA in a best-of-one to go 2-0 in group play at the Americas RMR. Lets be clear, they beat them. They beat them on Nuke. Nuke was a map that FURIA even stated ahead of the game that they wanted to play. Evil Geniuses are now 2-0 and looking to go flawless in group play after failing to make it out of last year's RMR. This is a moment in time.
The match began on Nuke, which both parties seemed to prefer as they banned down to it and EG has the option between this or Mirage. By electing Nuke, they also were taking the T-side of the map which is known to be a much harder side to start off with. However EG defied this conventional performance by securing the opening pistol and the subsequent four rounds to take an important 5-0 lead. Despite FURIA's best efforts, they were only able to string together six rounds as the American powerhouse took a 9-6 lead on the inferior side.
EG continued their performance in the second half by immediately getting their second pistol, securing the pistol and the following rounds to take a 12-6 lead against the Brazilians. Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov decided today was his day to have an all-star performance as his 17-8 K/D line complimented well to his 72.3 ADR after 19 rounds. The game seemed to just go straight EG's way, despite some hiccups in the second half after FURIA appeared to almost tie it up at the end. The Blueprint reaping it's rewards as they dispatch FURIA 16-14 and go 2-0 in group play.
Evil Geniuses now head to their qualification BO3 tomorrow while FURIA will be forced to play another BO1 before finding out if they are headed to qualification or are on the threat of elimination.
