madcow links up with Evil Geniuses as manager
Former Bad News Bears coach Nathan "madcow" Retterath announced on Twitter that he would be taking on the role of CS Players Manager at Evil Geniuses. This move comes just a week after madcow made the decision to step down from the Bears after a year and a half long tenure with that squad.
madcow's addition to Evil Geniuses' staff is the first notable acquisition the squad has made since the signing of the Party Astronauts and Carpe Diem rosters. With the organization opting to bench coach Damien "maLeK" Marcel, and outrighting cutting assistant coach Paolo "EVY" Berbudeau and analyst Juan "Hepa" Borges in May, some aspects of Evil Geniuses seem a bit chaotic looking in from the outside.
The cohesion of Evil Geniuses' squad was further brought into question with the controversy that erupted from the exit of the coaching staff. This was further exacerbated by a report released earlier this month that suggested that Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and William "RUSH" Wierzba would be out the door in lieu of two European replacements. With Evil Geniuses opting to bring madcow into the fold as a players manager, it seems that the organization is doing its best to stabilize the main team considering the circumstances of the past few months.
madcow will be working alongside Evil Geniuses' main squad, helping them get ready for their next outing. The fifteen-man roster could potentially field two different lineups for two upcoming events set to conflict with one another, the first IEM Rio Americas RMR Open Qualifier, and the BLAST Premier Fall Groups. Regardless of which lineup the organization chooses to send to either event, we're bound to see the team return to action in mid-August.
UPDATE: Dust2.us was made aware that madcow will be working with Evil Geniuses' main starting five, as opposed to the entire fifteen-man lineup. The article has been updated accordingly.
