Vroom, vroom, HUMMER leads the way
HUMMER got off to a flying start for the EPL Conference Season 16 with a 2-1 victory over Sprout. The Brazilians ended up trading map picks in a highly competitive best of three to join their compatriots MIBR in the upper bracket. Daniel "danoco" Morgado lead the way for his team with a 1.26 rating across three maps thanks to his flying start on the first map, Dust2.
The two began on Sprout's pick of Dust2, where the Germans appeared to be on the back foot for the majority of the match. HUMMER jumped out to a solid defensive start and finished the half with a 10-5 scoreline. The dominance only continued into the second half after a successful pistol and HUMMER never let off the gas. They finished the half with a 6-2 score to win their opponent's pick 16-7.
It looked to almost be an incredibly comfortable best-of-three for the Brazilians as they headed to their own pick of Nuke, however, Sprout would be playing spoiler. Like getting wrapped around a tree, HUMMER were stopped in their tracks after getting to a 5-2 start on their T-side. Sprout was able to get into the groove, blowing by the Brazilians to convert the half 9-6. HUMMER responded in kind, once they got on the defensive with a pistol victory, only to be spoiled by Sprout making it 15-8. Just as HUMMER seemed to complete the full comeback and bring the game to overtime, Sprout finally found their footing and closed it out 16-14.
Ancient was the do-or-die map, settled after each side vetoed down to it. A back and forth game, ultimately decided by who had the superior defense, HUMMER snatched away a 16-14 victory in a hard-fought victory that looked like it would be anything but after Dust2. The Brazilians had the pedal to the metal and will now continue their run in the EPL Conference Season 16 in the upper bracket.
HUMMER have a little bit more time before they are back in action, as their qualification match versus Eternal Fire is on Saturday 06:30AM.
