the player will return to compLexity's bench as he sorts out his work-life balance

yay steps down from MASSIVEimpact following debut match

yay has announced that he will be stepping down from the MDL team to focus on personal issues.

Following his debut match with MASSIVEimpact last night against The Fundamentals, Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker has announced on TwitLonger that he is stepping from the team in order to deal with personal issues in his life.

yay announced his departure and expanded on his personal struggles after the FACEIT Major five months ago. Following the high point in his career of their 3-0 victory in the New Legends stage, yay began to notice a drop in his performance and concentration as compLexity's rigorous schedule started to take its toll on him.

As his performance continued to decline, yay struggled to maintain his work-life balance, and mentioned his regret that he could not maintain his interpersonal relationships nor his in-game performance.

For now, yay announced that he will be focusing on his personal health and his family as "real bad news from a family member" served as a wake-up call that he had "neglect(ed) some of [h]is family relationships in the pursuit of CS". However, in his closing remarks, yay stated that he would not be quitting CS, and that he feels he can achieve the changes needed to make a return to normalcy.

I'm not quitting CS, I have goals I need to achieve, and I can do them. Although what I've learned through this experience is I can't neglect myself. I need to be constantly working on all aspects of my life such as my diet and body. I also need to let my mind adequately rest and work on controlling my emotions in addition to my game.

With the departure of yay, MASSIVEimpact's roster now looks as follows:

  • United States Sebastian "seb" Bucki
  • United States Shawn "witmer" Taylor
  • United States Collin "wrath" McSweegan
  • Canada Marian "tyfoon" Lesnic
